Minutes of Parent Representatives’ Meeting
Columbia Grammar and Prep School
Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 8:30 am
Monique Pettit, JSA Corresponding Secretary, welcomes attending parents.
Helena Park, Treasurer: The current balance is $15,303.11. Twelve schools have paid their dues so far. If anyone has incurred expenses, please send receipt to Helena with the amount that should be reimbursed.
Monique Pettit, Corresponding Secretary: Please continue to direct all information to Monique for distribution or posting on the JSA website. Include any updates regarding contact information for reps and for faculty contacts.
Winter Carnival scheduled for January 9, 2010 at Christ Church. Martha Leitner: Reminded assembled reps that the booths needed to be accounted for and students needed to organize. Carnival will be discussed in detail at the student meeting and booths finalized. Sacred Heart and Chapin to co-chair event (no longer Hewitt). Martha will schedule a student/parent planning meeting for the co-chairs before the winter vacation so responsibilities are clearly defined since the carnival is the weekend after we return from vacation.
Discussion about new event to be held on February 20th, 2010. Kathy Soll: The Browning gym is available. Students are planning an arts project in conjunction with City Year, creating painting for designated New York public schools. Representatives of City Year will attend the student meeting to start defining the project; a committee of students has already been formed.
Colleen Pike Blair, Independent Voices/Poetry Anthology and reading: Looking for a publisher for $3 per copy (100-130 copies) and wants to print a shorter run. Letters have been sent out to faculty advisors, Monique Pettit will email JSA parents. Letter can be posted on bulletin boards and websites, if faculty advisors agree. Submission deadline: February 5. Need proof readers and volunteers for reading at the Barnes & Noble Triangle. Will ask faculty liaisons to recommend a student emcee.
Next Parent/Student Rep Meeting: Thursday, January 28, 4:15 pm,
Browning 52 East 62nd Street
